Application Process

The Real Estate Salesperson (RES) examination is a prerequisite for anyone who wishes to become a registered real estate salesperson in Singapore. This page provides detailed information on how to apply for the RES examination.

Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the RES examination, ensure that you meet these eligibility criteria:

  • At least 21 years old
  • Minimum 4 GCE 'O' Level passes or equivalent
  • Completed the RES Course from a CEA-approved course provider
  • Not subject to any disqualifications under the Estate Agents Act

Application Period

The RES examination is typically held four times a year (March, June, September, and December). The application period usually opens 6-8 weeks before the examination date.

How to Apply

Applications for the RES examination must be submitted through the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) portal. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to apply:

Step 1

Create an account: Register for an account on the SEAB portal if you don't already have one.

Step 2

Log in to your account: Access the SEAB portal using your SingPass.

Step 3

Navigate to RES examination: Select "Register for Examinations" and then "Real Estate Salesperson Examination".

Step 4

Complete application form: Fill in all required personal and educational details.

Step 5

Upload required documents: Scan and upload your RES Course completion certificate and other required documents.

Step 6

Pay the examination fee: The current examination fee is $246.10 (inclusive of GST) for both papers. Payment can be made using credit/debit cards or internet banking.

Step 7

Confirm application: Review all details before submitting your application.

Required Documents

When applying for the RES examination, you'll need to prepare the following documents:

  • NRIC or passport (for foreigners)
  • Certificate of completion of the RES Course
  • Educational certificates (if required by SEAB for verification)
  • Passport-sized photograph (taken within the last 3 months)

After Application

Once your application is submitted and processed:

  • You will receive an acknowledgment email from SEAB.
  • Examination admission details will be sent to you approximately 2 weeks before the examination date.
  • Print your examination admission notice, which you'll need to bring on the examination day.
